Do you sell birds?Yes! Every year We offer young birds nearing maturity for sale, mostly in breeding groups of a trio or quad (comprising one cockerel & pullets) & usually from June to August Cockerels are also available for sale individually Sometimes there are surplus pullets available, but purchasers of breeding groups are given preference. Occasionally second year birds from our breeding pens become available & are advertised throughout the year. Keep a look out! We endeavour to breed to the Australian Poultry Standards. Birds are sold as good breeding quality. While we do not exhibit (& so do not have 'show birds'), a good number of our birds &/or their progeny have performed extremely well at Shows for their new owners. Australia only

How can I get some fertile eggs?Visit the Shop in this website & see what's available. Sometimes a cancellation or the hens laying more prolifically than expected may have eggs available at the last mintue, so check back. Get in contact with us to place an order or to reserve eggs. (Please be aware that there is often a waiting list that influences availability.) Feel free to register your interest with us. (***Australian residents only) We are happy to arrange to meet at local meetpoints of Kilkivan, Goomeri, Gympie & Buderim OR to mail eggs Australia-wide. We inspect & carefully package eggs that have been regualrly collected from the breeding pens & that have routinely turned at least a few times a day ahead of mailing. They are sent by Express Post on a Monday & the tracking number texted to you. ***PLEASE NOTE: Fertile eggs are mailed with the usual cautions & an understanding by both parties of the inherent risk & the gamble undertaken. (Sometimes wonderful hatchings are had & very occasionally, woeful ones.) It is widely suggested that the expectation of chicks hatched from posted eggs should be in the vicinity of 25-50%, ...with more, lucky & less, unfortunate.

What's the difference between a Rhode Island White single & rose comb bird?Only their comb type. A sinlge comb bird has a number of defintie spikes or points on their comb, while a rose comb bird has a comb that is more flat & more closely follows the contour of the head. It's down to personal preference (or keep both types, like I do) & perhaps climate consdierations ...in extremely cold environments, the rose combs are less prone to frost-bite.
